We are men and women drawn together by a common bond – we are recovering alcoholics and substance abusers who have found that there is life after alcohol and drugs. Maybe you will find, as we have, that our recovery is just as progressive as our addictions. Join us to celebrate the joy of life in recovery!
What is Club Dry Dock?
Club Dry Dock is a Sober Club located in Brewster, Cape Cod, MA, a registered nonprofit organization that exists to provide its members with a welcoming sober space in which they can relax, recreate, and enjoy the benefits of sober living together. We welcome those in recovery and those sober, non-addicted people whose lives have been affected by the substance abuse of others. Club membership fees support the day-to-day operating expenses of the club and the general upkeep of the building.
Club Dry Dock operates as the legal landlord of the facilities at 1439 Route 6A in Brewster, formerly known as the New England Fire & History Museum, in which a variety of 12-Step meetings take place throughout the week. Anyone wishing to start a new 12-step group within these facilities should appear at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees, held the second Tuesday of every month at 6 pm. It is recommended that you speak informally with a trustee beforehand to inquire about available times, days, and usual and customary expenses such as rent.
How did Club Dry Dock begin?
Club Dry Dock opened its doors on July 1, 1989 at 42 Bay Ridge Lane in Orleans, a rented property in which the Club spent the first 10 years of its existence. In 1999 the house on Bay Ridge was sold and Club Dry Dock moved to 58 Swamp Road in Brewster. In June 2007 the Club moved again to its current location at 1439 Route 6A in Brewster. Throughout the years the support and dedication of our members have been the lifeblood that has kept the doors of the club open and made possible the recovery of so many.
Who Runs Club Dry Dock?
The Club is governed by a Board of Trustees that is elected annually by the membership of Club Dry Dock. The Board in turn elects officers to the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The officers are charged with providing leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operation of the Club. All administrative tasks and management is undertaken by these volunteer trustees and designated members.
Club Dry Dock is an independent, nonprofit entity and is not affiliated with nor financed by any other group or organization. The 12-step groups that meet at Club Dry Dock pay a nominal rent to the Club, but Club Dry Dock relies heavily on individual membership dues as well.
